State Notary

Florida Notary Public

Those interested in becoming a Florida notary public can start and complete the entire process in one location - state-approved bonding companies furnish applications and provide the necessary bonding and equipment.

The state of Florida does not provide the application materials directly to consumers. To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 and a legal resident of Florida. There is a $39 state filing fee to apply. Applicants must also obtain a notary public surety bond. All new applicants must complete a three-hour education course.

Completed applications and proof of bonding are submitted electronically through one of the approved bonding companies. If approved without review, applicants can receive their notary commissions within a few days. The notary certificate is typically mailed to the bonding agency, which in turn then sends it to the new notary. The notary seal then follows.

In all, the process typically takes about 2-3 weeks. A list of approved bonding agencies can be found at http://notaries.dos.state.fl.us/notagn97.html or you can fill out the simple form for a Florida Notary Bond through our site.
